“Quality is the key to success”

With great luck, I met one of the greatest Chefs in Vietnam, Sakal Phoeung, Executive Chef of Sofitel Hotel and President of Escoffier Vietnam. In Vietnamese we always say “Không Thầy đố mày làm nên – You become nothing without a mentor.” With Sakal’s support I had a chance to learn and work in the professional kitchen of Sofitel Hotel in Saigon—from different countries' techniques of cooking to organizing and managing a professional kitchen—It was a perfect opportunity to learn! Later on, Sakal saw my passion and encouraged me to build my own restaurants and that’s how I built MeVui. In 2018, I fell in love with Bali on my first trip to Bali with my husband. Going back to SaiGon after that trip had made me realize that I want my children to have the best environment and playground as they grow up. I want them to feel the thrill and excitement that I felt during my trip to Bali—the surf, dive, beaches, mountains, culture, prayer, blessing and people. After 1 year of preparation, My family decided to move to Bali in 2019. “Quality is the key to a successful restaurant”, said my mentor. But I think that it doesn’t only apply to restaurants, but also to life. This move gave me joy and brought a better quality of life for my children. I hope with this environment, my children don't have to experience their parent’s struggle and just surf away.
